10k, 5k, 1 mile Run

Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Kinesiology Club is excited to present to you the Second Annual L.E.G.A.C.Y. Run to benefit Family Outreach Corpus Christi, Inc! This is a multi-level run with the opportunity to compete in three categories: 10k, 5k, & 1mile fun run for children 12 and under. Awards will be given to the top three competitors in the following categories: men, women, and children based on age ranges. The run begins at the TAMU-CC campus, runs down Ennis Joslin, and then back to the university campus for completion. All participants times will be officially clocked and recorded by Cadence Sports, Inc.

Generational Abuse in Nueces County

According to the Nueces County Victim’s Advocate, cases of abuse affecting families in this community are now spanning 5 generations. Generational cycles of abuse are passed down from parents to their children and unfortunately repeated cycles of abuse often become normalized for these families. Studies have shown that more than 30% of abused and neglected children will later abuse their own children. With each generation, the abuse becomes more ingrained, more destructive…and more likely to be repeated.

With your help, Family Outreach can provide these struggling families with tools such as free counseling, education, support groups, and other resources to equip them with the skills they need to increase their awareness of abusive patterns in the family and make changes.

Your participation means we will more quickly eliminate the effects of generational abuse on our children and their grandchildren.

Your participation will provide free services to families who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it.

How do I register?
Pre-registration must be completed by 5p.m. on Wednesday, October 19th.
On-site registration is available between 6:30 a.m. and 7a.m on Saturday, October 22nd.
Race begins at 7:30 a.m.!

***Packet & T-Shirt pick up is Friday, October 21st from noon to 8:00pm at Family Outreach 1444 Baldwin Blvd. CC, TX 78404.***

The following fees apply:
10K -$30.00 pre-registration fee/ $35.00 on-site registration fee
5K -$20.00 pre-registration fee/$25.00 on-site registration fee
1 mile Fun Run -$10.00 pre-registration fee/$15.00 on-site registration fee (for children 12 and under only)
